Power and Peace with Energetic Tiger

It's Tammy here, the Hero Teacher, and I’ve just wrapped up my first week back at school—three classrooms full of bright-eyed kindergartners. I have to say, this year’s start has been something special.

Imagine walking into a kindergarten class that feels like a little slice of heaven on earth. That’s what I’m lucky enough to experience in our Kindergarten Masterclass. It’s peaceful, harmonious, and, dare I say, magical.

Picture this: the Junior Kindergarten students—new to school—are quietly learning from the Senior Kindergarten students who sit cross-legged in meditation, ready to be master learners and future master teachers. Even our early childhood educators (ECEs) are following along with our unique 50-minute block, making it such a joy to teach.

I’ve been teaching for years, but seeing kids as young as four learning how to manage their emotions and understand themselves? That’s something powerful. It’s exactly why I developed the Hero Intelligence program—where children grow not just in academics, but as whole individuals. And it all starts with our animal friends guiding the way.

This week, we’re moving into Ava’s adventure with Energetic Tiger. Tiger teaches the importance of taking care of ourselves—a value we deeply hold as a school and as a family. Whether it’s learning how to handle big emotions or connecting with family values, this is where the journey begins.

Oh, and did I mention? I had my own adventure this summer in the Bahamas. I even got to meet Tranquil Turtle—yes, a real one! I couldn’t help but think of how our animal characters and their lessons really do mirror real life. (Here's my encounter with Tranquil Turtle 🐢!)

Since I teach at a Catholic school, values like kindness, empathy, and respect are at the heart of everything we do. It’s why I love sharing my Hero Intelligence stories and tools with you, and why I’m so excited to share this edition’s sponsor: a new faith-based social media app. It’s more peaceful and uplifting than most other platforms so you can focus on supporting families who share the same values and beliefs. Definitely worth checking out!

I can’t wait to take you further into this month’s theme. And trust me, if Ava’s journey with Tiger is any sign, it’s going to be an exciting adventure for you and your kids.

Here are three easy ways to boost family values:

📚 Read and Discuss: Find stories that talk about staying healthy, like "The Berenstain Bears and Too Much Junk Food" or "Eat Your Peas, Louise!" Talk about how the characters learn to make good choices and how you can do the same in your life.

💭 Think About Your Own Habits: Ask your child or student to think about how they take care of their body and mind. How do they feel after playing outside, eating healthy, or relaxing? Talk about how they can make these good habits a part of their daily life.

🌎 Look at the World Around You: Explore how people in different places stay healthy. Visit a farmers' market, join a sports team, or check out a fitness class. Talk about how communities work together to stay strong and healthy.

Share Your Stories! We’d love to hear about what values are important to your family. Let’s inspire each other by sharing our ideas and experiences.

By using these tips in your summer activities, you can have a fun and creative adventure together while staying focused on health and wellness. Happy exploring!

Thank you for joining me on this exciting adventure with Ava and Energetic Tiger! As we wrap up, I want to leave you with a little something to carry with you this month:

"The greatest gift we can give our children is to show them how to care for themselves. It’s through self-respect that they learn to respect the world around them."

I wish you a week that’s full of strength, energy, and courage. Stay tuned for next week’s edition, where Sylvia will bring you even more tips and tools to empower yourself and your kids on their journey.

Have a roaring good week ahead! 🐯
